Limassol Marina is a unique destination in Limassol because it’s a tourist attraction in and of itself as well as the place that you might be staying in. This beautiful waterfront is a recent development that has sprung up to accommodate the needs of the growing international profile of Cyprus.
With yachts gently bobbing in the water and the expanse of the beautiful Mediterranean opening up beyond, you’ll struggle to find a more idyllic location in not only Limassol but also the whole of Cyprus itself.
Where Did the Limassol Marina Come From?
Limassol has undergone a number of major renovations in recent years. With an influx of money and an increasing number of people discovering what Cyprus has to offer, the city has evolved and grown. It is now a symbol of modernity, but with the traditions and culture that make Limassol unique.
Limassol Marina has been built next to the Old Port, which is just next door on the eastern side of the complex. Modelled on Port Grimaud in St Tropez, this is a marine community designed to act as a living village for both sailors and visitors to Limassol alike. You will find luxury waterfront apartments and villas jostling for pride of place with shopping and dining areas.
The needs of Limassol’s bustling tour trade meant that the New Port and Old Port were no longer able to handle the diverse requirements of visitors coming from all four corners of the world, and so changes needed to be made. And hence the idea of a world-class marina was born, with Limassol Marina the eventual result.
Could You Stay Here?
One look at the Limassol Marina and you would be forgiven for wanting to stay here forever. Every morning you can catch both the sunrise and the sunset playing out before you. Think about what it would be like to look out the window and see that spectacle every day of your stay.
The marina has a growing community that’s open to tourists. While most of the 650 berths are for people who want to live there permanently, there is a selection of holiday rentals.
Built for the Modern Visitor
The modern visitor wants more than a few overpriced cafes in a sub-par location. The Limassol Marina provides a welcome respite from that, with landscaped gardens, fitness centre, spa, five-star restaurants, and everything else you need to make the most of your visit here.
And if you are thinking of sailing in or out on a fishing trip, or even just a cruise around the island, you can find fully-equipped sailing facilities here. The Limassol Marina has truly become the heart of the ‘old town’ area of the city.
Limassol Marina is easy to find as because, as I mentioned above, it is in the heart of the old town. It is located adjacent to the Old Port, and the chances are you will pass it if you sail into the city via the New Port, depending on which cruise you take. To get to Limassol itself, you can take the green intercity buses that criss-cross the country.
A trip to Limassol Marina is easy to do on a day trip, and you can easily combine it with a visit to the Old Port or the old town at the same time.
Have you ever been to the Limassol Marina? What did you think about it? I’d love to know, so feel free to drop me a comment at the bottom of the page.
