Phuket tourism boosted by Russian rebound

Russian arrivals to Phuket have now rebounded, but the crackdown on so-called “zero-baht” tourism from China has hindered growth. According to a new report from C9 Hotelworks, total airport arrivals to Phuket exceeded 7.5 million passengers in 2016, marking a year-on-year increase 18%. This can be partially attributed to the resurgence of the Russian market, which increased 51% last year. Eurowings expands summer holiday flights for 2017 season

Eurowings is working consistently on further expansion of its route network so as to offer passengers further attractive options for their holidays. Three new routes from Cologne/Bonn, Hanover and Vienna will complete the offering of the quality low-cost carrier from the Lufthansa Group in the summer 2017 flight schedule. Tourico Holidays merges with Hotelbeds

Joan Vila, Hotelbeds’ executive chairman Tourico Holiday, the US-based travel wholesaler, is joining Europe’s Hotelbeds Group, following the announcement of a major industry merger. Under the agreement, Tourico will join Hotelbeds’ bedbank business unit, with the Spanish company taking 100% control of the merged entity. Tourico will initially continue to operate as an independent business, but a long-term strategy will be developed to combine the businesses.
