Passengers travelling this weekend to and from Jersey are being warned about the strict luggage restrictions.
The Ports of Jersey say people should contact their airline if they have any concerns about what products or goods are allowed on board.
Any wrapped presents must be carried within checked-in hold luggage while those carried as hand baggage must remain unwrapped and will be searched.
Meanwhile Liquid items, such as perfumes, pastes and gels must be carried as part of checked-in luggage. Certain decorations, such as home-made crackers, ‘Party Poppers’ or any other types of explosive devices are not allowed to be carried in the cabin or in the baggage hold by any airline. It’s inevitable that at this time of year passengers will be travelling with a higher than usual number of gifts and we want their journey with us to be as smooth and as comfortable as possible. Although stringent security measurements remain in place, which all airports adhere to, even during the festive period, we hope that by giving our passengers a timely reminder of what they are permitted to carry on board, it will decrease the risk they take of having items denied boarding at central security search.
